How effective are your people? Is your HR strategy effective? How do you measure performance?

 
I have enjoyed 20 years of experience working with schools and Principals adding value to each unique environment. Initially this focused on manpower planning and recruitment but more recently this has focused on cost management and efficiency.

Many Principals that I have worked with are rightly focused on the children and their education. However many of the issues that keep them up at night relate to people, mainly their teaching staff. I have been fortunate to build relationships with Principals that allows me to work closely with them, understand the issues and identify positive and productive solutions. These in turn are then implemented and have a measurable, positive impact on the whole school, the children and the quality of the education provided.

Working with schools and their management has always filled me with a sense of purpose and I enjoy understanding the different circumstances of schools and how I can impact them for the better.

Chris started his career in Education at 18, teaching PE and Outdoor Education at a boarding school in Victoria, Australia.

Chris then went on to graduate the University of Oxford with a Bachelor of Education, specializing on Primary teaching and Physical Education.

Following his graduation he went on to work for 3 leading companies in the teacher recruitment sector, based in the UK and Australia. The last of these positions included responsibility for over 100 employees based in the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

With this wealth of experience, Chris then joined the worlds largest independent school group, GEMS Education, based in Dubai, UAE. During an 11 year career with GEMS Chris was an integral part of establishing HR and recruitment systems and processes across all GEMS schools. Much of his work was spent with other departments ensuring an aligned strategy between the finance and operations of schools and the impact on people. 

Chris is now based in Calgary, Canada but regularly travels to schools around the world.
